Profile

Dr. Maciej Sychowic is a political scientist specializing in comparative politics, political economy, and political behavior. His research centers on the analysis of political polarization, democratic attitudes, and the quality of democracy, with a methodological emphasis on quantitative analysis and comparative datasets.

Research Interests and Projects

His research covers political divisions, electoral behavior, and the functioning of democracy in Central Europe and the Nordic countries. He is also interested in the relationship between politics and popular culture, including the impact of media events on public debate.

He contributes to research projects concerning affective polarization and democratic attitudes, including DEPOLARIZE project, financed by the European Research Council (ERC), and the Polish National Election Study.

Publications

He is the author and co-author of scholarly publications appearing in international political science and sociology journals, focusing on topics such as electoral mobilization, ideological extremism, and the relationship between political ideology and government evaluation in Europe. His work has been published in journals such as East European Politics and Societies, Polish Sociological Review, and Comparative European Politics.
